this house was hands-down the most convenient location

Vacation Date: May 28, 2023
"This was our 4th stay on the North Shore of Kauai. My family likes to surf and being right in Hanalei allowed us to pick up the boards and go whenever we wanted. The house was clean and very spacious. The kitchen is well stocked with all the cooking hardware you'll need. Having beach chairs and umbrellas was nice and we used those each day as well. Our only minor critique would be that the shower heads need to be replaced or de-scaled.

"We loved being at the Waioli for 3 weeks! It was a great location, close to town and easy stroll to the beach. The house worked well for 4-5 people, kitchen well outfitted for cooking, and spacious living area. The owner was very responsive to our requests, and even installed an outdoor clothesline! Would definitely return to this home again!

"We were very close but not on top of my daughter and her family. Everything was as advertised, except that the dryer didn't work, but there was a taped note above it saying that a part had been ordered. Fortunately we could go next door to do laundry. Also the street was noisy and hard to walk along into town, but doable without young kids. The walk to the beach was easy.

"A great stay overall. The house is on the smaller side, but very cozy and comfortable (we are a family of 4). It has great views to the mountains with a short walk to the beach. If you are up to for a longer walk, you can get to BigSave and other shops in about 10min (use Weke Rd, as Kuhio Hwy doesn't have a sidewalk in some places).

"My husband and I stayed here for 3 days and wish we could have stayed longer! You can not ask for more when it comes to location for a property. You are just minutes walking distance to downtown Hanalei and you basically roll out of bed onto Hanalei Bay beach! It is also just a quick minute drive to beautiful tunnels beach and the drop off point for the Kalalau Trailhead. There was a really cute farmer market on Tuesday afternoon as well in walking distance from the house. We got to try a bunch of new fruits and purchase them for snack at the house! The washer and dryer was an amazing bonus as well! We would absolutely recommend this property!

"This property is located about two blocks from the beach, which is fantastic. It was clean, comfy, and well equipped. As noted in the listing, only the bedrooms are air conditioned, and the living area can get a bit warm if you're used to cooler climates. While internet was provided, it was a bit slow, though I suspect that's probably just Hanalei. Overall, this was a great place to stay for our vacation, and will serve you especially well if your plan is to spend a lot of time at Hanalei bay.

"We had a beautiful stay in Hanalei! Appreciated the short walk to Hanalei Bay for sunrise and sunset and the 10-minute stroll to Hanalei's main strip of restaurants and shops. The beds were very comfortable, and the AC units in the lower two bedrooms worked great. The bathrooms were nice and updated with plenty of linens (note: bring shampoo, conditioner, and body wash!). The kitchen is very spacious and stocked for cooking and meal prep. I also appreciated the open layout for lounging after long days of outdoor activities. Everything was clean and well-marked in the space. We had two different neighbors in the duplex and never heard any noise from the other unit. There was some road noise from Kuhio Highway, but it didn't disturb our sleep and we were out and about for most of our stay. Mahalo for a wonderful visit!

"The back yard space was confining with the foliage encasing it, but some might like total privacy. The unit was clean and kitchen was updated and well equipped. One old tv not smart and could not get to work. The dryer is rusty and appears on last leg. The locks on sliding glass doors x2 inoperable and required wooden poles for security. 1 of 2 louvre doors in front of laundry off track just propped against a wall. shower fixture in primary bath also on last leg and unsatisfying shower. IMO, for price, property should have been in better repair. Worst selection of water toys, and though property does not supply, at least they could discard the broken stuff in the disorganized closet. Great location for 2 nights but somewhat dated and in need of repair.

The property itself had a huge common space with an open kitchen and seating options that we utilized often. The air-conditioned bedrooms made for nice sleeping and comfortable beds. The loft was nice and private however does get warmer, but both a ceiling fan and floor fans are available which helps. The backyard is private and the outdoor shower there is helpful for rinsing sand and is open to the backyard. The beach chairs came in handy along with the umbrella and boogie boards. The walk to the beach is super fast and the walk to town is about 10-15 minutes along the main road. Overall, it was a great property and I would definitely stay again!

"Great spot in Hanalei! The location of this place plus the split bedrooms drew us to this home. The location was perfect being under a mile from shops, restaurants, groceries and literally a block from the sand and bay. The house was very clean and well stocked with just about everything you could need. AC in the bedrooms made sleep possible but the rest of the home was quite warm/humid (which we knew about when we booked) but they had several oscillating fans which helped circulate fresh air through the home. When we were actually at home we were typically on the lanai anyway which is very nice and fairly private. The outdoor shower was also amazing to sand off gear and kids 😁. Only cons I can really think of : •the master shower head needs help. Sprays everywhere. •a few more pillows in the home would be a nice touch. 1 flat pillow pp was a bit uncomfortable •a few more storage drawers in the bedrooms would also add to long term rentability For the price there could have been a few more touches, i.e. shampoo in the showers, more dish soap and paper products. With the road closures it was not easy to "leave town" and the only store in town was expensive and often out of stock. Definitely not deal breakers however and given the crazy climate totally understandable. All in all we had a wonderful stay and would recommend for families looking to be close to the fun and beauty of Hanalei (waterfall views directly out the kitchen window). We love Hanalei and can't wait to come back!

My Happy Place

Vacation Date: August 13, 2019
"Wow! Such a dream come true to stay right here in the middle of Kauai's North Shore, my happy place. The property was immaculately clean. It was hard to tell if there was any glass in the kitchen window. (There was, but it was so clean you can't see it!) The fridge had the basic condiments you would want to use. There's a coffee maker and filters, toaster oven, wine openers... There was a boogie board, beach chairs, and beach towels to get you ready for your day on the beach, which is a 3 minute walk away. It's not beach-front, but it is truly close enough. There is laundry washer and dryer. There is a dishwasher. 2 bed, 2 bath, sleeps 6 with two in the upstairs loft. The property managers were very helpful throughout the process. Check in was easy. Twenty foot ceilings! It felt so luxurious. One of the two bathrooms has a glass-door walk in with no sill, so the shower is on the same level as the floor, a beautiful detail if you like architecture. There is A/C in at least one bedroom (didn't notice the other) as well as FOUR fans to keep you cool in the rest of the house, and a ceiling fan for the loft. Location, Location, Location! I mentioned the beach is right there, gorgeous Hanalei bay with its soft white sand and gentle surf. Hanalei town is a half mile away so you can walk there (down the beach or along the road) or it's a quick drive, and parking was fine. To reach the farther glories of the North Shore, there is now a "North Shore Shuttle" which has a stop one half mile from the house in the opposite direction from town. You could walk easily, but there is plenty of parking. The shuttle will take you to the world renowned Kalalau Trail, Haena State Park, Ke'e Beach with its world class snorkeling, and also to the beautiful Limahuli Botanical Gardens, which is a rare treat if you like culture, history, or botany. We came for the land and the ocean, loving to hike, snorkel, swim, and lounge on the beach, so we spent very little money after air and lodging. Once you get here you are all set. There are two good grocery stores in Hanalei; one regular commercial store and one local natural foods store so it is easy to make coffee, cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and that makes everything easy and affordable also. A complete win! 09/26/2019 at 12:52 AM

Lots of extra pillows, little unfold mattress, everything you need for the kitchen, and some beach toys. Nice outdoor covered patio with outside shower for when you get back from the beach. "We had 3 adults and 2 kids age 5&7. My wife and I took the master bedroom, it has a large California King bed and nice master bath. Nana took the guest room, we had to two single bed pushed together to make a double or queen which was large enough for her. Originally, the two kids were going to sleep in the loft in the queen bed up there but we were a little concerned the 5 year old may stumble down the stairs late at night to use the bathroom. They probably would have been fine but there were 2 bed mats that we layed out in the large living/dining area and the kids just slept down there. There is A/C in the bedrooms only, which are brand new and work very well. We only used them half the nights we were there. It cooled off the other nights enough to just run the fans and leave the windows open. The kids just used fans in the living room and were nice and cool. The place is very spacious, especially the living room and kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped, had everything we needed, even extra spices, oil, etc. The back porch/yard was great also. Kids played on the grass, we bbq one night on the charcoal Webber. The outdoor shower was used often and was great. Washer and Dryer. Plenty of beach toys, snorkel gear, beach gear, chairs, even a cooler to borrow. Location is awesome. Closest to Waioli beach and the Old Church/Farmers market area. The Waioli beach had some rip tides the week we were there but just up the beach 3-4 blocks away the Hanalei Pavallion was calm enough for everyone. We swam and boogie boarded, gentle waves and great sand. We went to the farmers market on Saturday, a 5 minute walk. Walked to town several times, maybe a 10 minute walk at most. Spent time at Anini Beach as well, snorkeling was the best over there, since everything past Hanalei is closed because of the last years floods. Only disappointment was everything is closed to public past the Waioli stream, highway and beaches. The closure is 1/2 block past the place. Nothing anyone could do about this, we knew Haena and Napali were closed but were optimistic Tunnels and Ke’e were going to open but they are not currently. Next time! Had many fun adventures all over the island, we have been before, it was the kids first time and they loved it! We will be back and will strongly considered staying here again! Thanks again to the owners, caretakers and cleaners, very easy to communicate with! 04/11/2019 at 9:26 PM

Spacious, well-kept home a short walk to the beach

Vacation Date: February 10, 2019
"We stayed for a week in mid-February, in rainy season. Communication was great, got lots of emails from the property managers with the info we needed. Check-in was easy. We had four adults in the house and loved it--it was very spacious. Beds were super comfortable and we appreciated the option to push the twins together with a mattress pad to make them more like a king for one of the couples. Tons of gathering space in the beautiful kitchen and living room, and outdoor patio. House had everything we needed, except a few extra pillows would have been helpful! Beds were super comfortable, everything worked well. We did not use the a/c in February but appreciated the overhead fans and good air flow through the house. If you're a light sleeper, bring a white noise machine (wherever you stay!) to keep the roosters at bay in the early morning so you can sleep with the windows down and enjoy the breeze. We would definitely rent this home again, and it's big enough to fit 6 comfortably without feeling crowded. You can see the beautiful mountains from the front yard. The backyard is a nice private patch of green to get some sun, we enjoyed eating breakfast out there. We loved Hanalei--strongly recommend Hanalei Poke (by the Big Save), Da Fezenda and Trucking Delicious, Pink's for ice cream. The Dolphin had great fish but meh sushi--we recommend sticking to the fish and poke! We were underwhelmed by Bar Acuda. We loved Saturday's farmer's market and got some great locally made goods to take home. As for the beach, we unfortunately came during a really stormy week. Power was out when we got in and stayed out for about three hours, and went out again later in the week for a couple of hours. At the time we came, Hanalei Bay was not a great beach for us--surf was really strong so we couldn't swim much, it was incredibly windy, and we had intermittent rain storms the whole week. It looked beautiful and would be an amazing beach during the calmer summer season I imagine! We ended up driving about half an hour to Kealia Beach on the days we wanted to go to the beach, where it was sunny, at least some of the surf was swimmable, and we loved it there. It was disappointing that we couldn't walk to a beach we wanted to stay on all day, but we knew that was the risk coming in February, and we loved the Wai'oli and being in Hanalei nevertheless! (Oh--this also gave us a great excuse to stop for smoothies and fresh fruit at Moloa Sunrise Fruit Stand a ton!). 02/17/2019 at 9:07 PM

"Further from town than anticipated, it’s walkable but not what expected. Flip side is the beach is just two blocks away and beautiful. The house itself was ok, beds could do with updating, couches not very comfortable when you want to relax at night after being out all day. AC only in bedrooms, house was like a glass hothouse when we arrived but with some strategic windows/doors open at night and closed up in the day we got it to regulate to a comfortable temperature after a couple of days. All amenities needed were provided from beach chairs / umbrella etc through to a thoughtful supply of fruit and kitchen essentials. Cleanliness was acceptable, parking and entry was easy. Quiet at night too. The outdoor space was ok, outdoor shower was great however the yard isn’t very private with two houses directly looking down into it. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. 01/30/2019 at 11:01 PM

"Beautiful home and an easy walk to Hanalei Bay ( one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet). We loved our morning walks on the beach, beautiful sunrises, rainbows and views of the mountains. The house was clean and incredibly comfortable. We especially loved the reading area of the living room - our grandson could watch a bit of TV and we enjoyed reading ! The kitchen is the best equipped of any rental we have used. The kitchen is also large enough so that we could all participate in meal preparation. We loved this house and would go again and again ! 12/06/2018 at 5:56 PM

"Spent 4 nights at the property and enjoyed it thoroughly. The highlights: the proximity to the beach and how clean and well-equipped the place was. You can tell the owners manage this property well. I would lean on this place, mainly as a two bedroom (though it does have a loft space, which does lend some flexibility.) All the adults who stayed agreed this was a great value. 11/30/2018 at 2:53 PM

"The place was beautiful however we went when it was really hot. We didn't realize it would be so hot without air conditioning in the home so unfortunately we had to spend most of the time while we were in the house in the bedroom which had air conditioning. It was a nice, short walk to the beach, however, which was lovely. 08/29/2018 at 6:51 PM

"My husband and 4 kids stayed for a week here and we were greatly pleased with the house and the amenities. The house was super clean and had all the things we needed to be comfortable. The house was a two minute walk to the beach. We went for a walk each morning. We love Hanalei bay and the awesome beach. We went boogie boarding each day and make sand sculptures with the perfect beach sand. We were ten minutes from Tunnels beach and we went snorkeling there several times. We walked to the farmer's market on Saturday and got some great produce. We couldn't ever hear the neighbors and the yard was very well kept. Would recommend the house. 04/01/2017 at 7:12 AM

OUR FAMILY LOVED THIS HOUSE!

Vacation Date: April 12, 2016
"This house is literally a block and a half from Waioili Beach Park in Hanalei Bay. We chose this house because we wanted to stay put for most of our stay in Kauai and drive as little as possible. It was the perfect fit for our family of five. The first night we walked to Big Save market, but decided with three little kids, driving 2 minutes was a lot easier, and our food stayed cold. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we could have needed. The back yard and out door shower were a wonderful bonus for our 3 and 5 year old. Even though there are other houses on 3 sides of the house, the landscaping made the yard extremely private, and the neighbors were very quiet. . The washer and dryer worked great! There was a nice big fan in every room. The furniture was comfortable. The owner and housekeeper were very helpful! The housekeeper spoiled us with fresh fruit several times during our stay. The owner was at the house within what seemed like minutes to answer a couple questions we had. Our trip was 15 days, and we drove to another beach twice. All that to say, we love Hanalei and this house made it even better. We would definitely stay at this house again! Thanks for making us so comfortable! 06/14/2016 at 9:30 PM

Hanalei is the best

Vacation Date: October 10, 2013
"Wow did we enjoy our stay in Hanalei and the island of Kauai. Our accommodation were wonderful, large and spacious for two couples. The patio was a great place to hang when it rained. It does rain in Hanalei. I guess you should expect that since it is so close to the rainiest spot on earth. Don't worry travel a couple miles and the weather is sunny. The sun can be as close as the beach which is just a short walk away.....really! That was nice. Wai'Oli' is a duplex not a big problem but if you rent the unit on the right your bedroom window is just a few feet from the neighbor's patio. They use their patio nightly and even normal conversation sounds very loud. Be advised they are talking with friends late into the night and that is most nights. I think they are the most popular people in Hanalei. My advice ask for the left unit or make friends with the neighbors as soon as you arrive. That way you can spend your evenings at their house drinking and enjoying the conversation. 10/28/2013 at 11:07 PM
