Na Hoku is the upstairs of a beach house duplex. There are two bedrooms, one bath, a kitchen, dining area and living room (Standard Occupancy is 4*). There is a good sized covered lanai and great ocean views from the living room and the lanai. Just walk down the stairs from the lanai onto the grass & walk to the beach in front.

Na Hoku, The upstairs Beach House is great for easy access. No steps between your bed and the sand! It has a cool relaxed feel. Hanalei town with its and restaurants & stores are only about 4 - 5 blocks away.

There is a King in the first bedroom with a flat screen. Twins in the second bedroom for another couple or single friends. If you are two couples, the twins can be made up as a King. There is an ottoman that becomes a twin bed in the living room.

*Listed rate is for the standard occupancy of 4, but home can accommodate up to 5. Extra guest fee beyond 4 is $20+tax/ per night / per person. One extra guest is allowed and this fee is collected after booking.

This is not a great house for energetic kids unless you are renting the downstairs, Keone, also. The floor is not well insulated for sound. You want to be considerate of the folks below and you don't want to spend all your time monitoring your children.

Your lanai is a great spot for lounging, lunch, or anytime. Some of our guests get a pretty cloth & cover the picnic table on the grass in front of the lanai for dinner and set a bunch of flowers on it. With others the lanai is home to sand toys and surf boards.

Just walk past the palms & ironwoods to the sand. If you've has enough sun, but not enough beach, under the trees is where you will be. Great place for reading or Scrabble. There are beach chairs for your use.

There is a combined tub shower as well an outdoor hot & cold shower on the wash house.

Not all of vacation life is with out some slight toil. If you need to wash clothes, there are 2 sets of coin op washer & dryer in a cute little building just steps away.

You never know what you will see on the beach. Many people come here to get married, renew vows, celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, even to get baptized! Canoe races, surfers, kite surfers, fishermen, volleyball players. Even with all this activity, most people experience the beach with fewer people on it than they could have dreamed. If you want action go out to the beach and head right. If you want space, go left toward the river mouth.

If you are our guests at Na Hoku, you will enjoy, sun, rain, surf, rainbows, and a great little town set in a fabulously beautiful location.

Please be aware that when you book this house or any accommodations by the ocean in Hawaii, not on a bluff, you are booking in a tsunami evacuation zone. Evacuation instructions will be in the house and notice of the tsunami evacuation zone will be part of your contract. Also please know that we cannot accommodate charging of electric vehicles at this property at this time.

"A fabulous location with huge lawn between you and Hanalei Bay. We rented the upstairs and downstairs for our largish group. "This property is a return visit for many years. The deck is the main enjoyment and you could sit there all day and read and watch the ocean, or just walk down to it. It is close enough to town, especially on a cruiser bike. I will be returning every year!

"Such a perfect vibe to be in this “rustic beach shack” as I like to think of it. The huge lawn is amazing and the covered patio is the perfect place to take in the sights and sounds of a rain storm. Small and simple with everything you need and nothing you don’t it seems to fit right into the landscape with its faded turquoise presence echoing all of the green tones surrounding it. Yes, the paint may be peeling off a bit, but that’s the charm. You sort of feel like you are a local here in this dwelling as so many places work so hard to be so desperately opulent while. We hope to be back.

"it remains my absolute favorite VRBO. Hanalei is of course delightful, but this house makes it perfect. The house has a lovely functional layout with all the amenities we need, but the lanai is what keeps us coming back. We usually come in winter and so storms are to be expected on the North Shore. I *love* having a meal on the covered lanai while it’s pouring rain, watching the surf and listening to the geckos. And if it’s sunny and warm, the lanai catches the breeze off the ocean to keep you comfortable. It really is paradise. This year, I also appreciated the several upgrades to the house (furnishings, fans, etc) that have been done since our last visit. If this place is available, book it! Just leave a week or so open for us each year…

"Location, location, location! So lovely to be beach front, and we loved the beach on Hanalei Bay. We stayed in late December with huge waves--so fun to watch. We were lucky to have mostly sunny days and temps in the mid 70's. The house is exactly as advertised: two clean bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen with everything you need, great lanai with great views. Furnishings and finishes are simple, clean, comfortable, and perfect for a beach stay. We visited the south of the island and Lihue area--beaches not nearly as nice as Hanalei Bay!

"Great location and great view This was our first time staying on Hanalei Bay. We loved the location, the view, the accommodations and the property. We stayed in the upstairs unit and spent more time on the deck than inside. It was great to watch the surfers in the waves from there. The accommodation was comfortable and in the Hawaiian style. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans etc. The location was ideal, having just a short walk to Handley Bay/beach and the little town of Conway. There was a big lawn in front on which you could play frisbee and other games. We plan to return each year.

Beach Front Near West End of Hanalei Beach

"Place was clean and as described. Porch was nice. It hasn’t been renovated in awhile. No dishwasher. Had beach chairs, cooler, boogie boards and volleyball. Beach not crowded. Nobody sitting near us. It rained frequently, usually every hour. It usually didn’t last long and would clear before the next brief shower rolled in. Outdoor shower did the job and is heated. The laundry is coin operated and located 30+ yards away.

Hanalei Bay “Old Hawaii”

"Fantastic property on the shores of Hanalei Bay with great "Old Hawaii" feel. Great location for ocean sports with shore break steps away and great surfing a short paddle. Hanalei location is fantastic with mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. Spent a lot of time either at beach or on lanai watching the ocean. Property very clean and hosts were responsive and very accommodating. Overall great spot for me, my wife, and my adult children. Nothing but great things to say about this property.

"Spent four days in Hanalei Bay - the property is right on the beach. Spent every morning sitting on the 2nd floor deck drinking coffee and watching the waves crash on the beach. Our flights home were changed due to Covid and our hosts were very accommodating. We are not “condo/villa” people, so this house has the charm of an old-time Hawaiian cottage. Would highly recommend it.

"Loved the cottage on Hanalei Bay! Enjoyed exploring the area, walking, swimming and snorkelin nearby Everything was good quality and loved the view from the porch! Lots to explore on the north coast from this cottage. If we come back to Kauai we would definitely want to rent this cottage again!

"If you don't really like resort holidays but prefer to have the freedom to organize your own experience and live in a beautiful setting, this place is perfect. It's right on the waterfront with a gorgeous lawn between the house and the beach. The house is at one end of the gorgeous sandy beach (with 2 lifeguard stations), away from the hustle and bustle of touristy (but quaint) downtown, which is still walkable. The 2nd floor lanai is especially nice with cool breezes and a full ocean view. Amenities were perfect. Location is overall very accessible to all attractions on the North Shore of Kauai. Paradise.

Another wonderful stay at Na Hoku

"We've stayed at this upstairs duplex, as well as some of the other homes on the beautiful property, several times over the past ten years. We've always had a great experience. The houses are all well maintained and clean. Everything works as it should and is accurately described on their website. Beach access is easy and this section of the beach at Hanalei is perfect for adults and children. It is seldom crowded and we've often found ourselves spending most of the day there rather than rushing off to other places on the island. In fact, we enjoyed this eight day stay so much that we've already booked a 12 night stay for next year to celebrate our 48th anniversary. Thank you Suzanne for providing the perfect vacation home for our family for so many memorable visits to Hanalei.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our 8 day stay in this wonderful 2nd floor home. Everything was perfect and it was wonderful to be right on the ocean. Loved the big covered porch and beautiful lawn leading to a perfect beach (never crowded) and ocean ... So relaxing and quiet ... Not too far from town though we drove to save time. Nice to be a little separated from the main action area of the town. The home was rustic / perfect for an island feel and contained everything we needed. The home was very clean and air conditioning was never needed due to the wonderful breezes. Suzanne was available by phone for any questions and tips for enjoying the area. We'll be back to stay at Na Hoku for sure! Just wish our stay was longer or that we could relocate to Hanalei tomorrow! 05/24/2015 at 12:36 PM

"This is one of the best rentals we have ever done. Definitely exceeded our expectation. It's a nice, clean, well maintained unit with a comfortable bed. Small kitchen had everything we needed. Very Quiet location at end of road. Owners and management provide amenities more like a hotel than a VRBO. Highlights are great view from the deck and proximity to Hanalei town. "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as this property is the perfect antithesis to large resorts. Hanalei is peaceful, the property has an older comfortable cabin feel, the stars bright, and the beach view is heavenly. We had everything we needed except some trade winds during an exceptional heat wave (it happens). If you go, make sure you hit The Hanalei Dolphin fish market for fresh Mahi-mahi. beautiful scenery, but too hot to enjoy without AC

"This area was too hot and humid to be without AC. There are ceiling fans inside but that did little to bring relief for this upstairs condo. There was no ceiling fan on the porch, so even being outside was pretty stifling. I did not expect that in October, and there were no trade winds at all. We had paid for 7 days, but took the loss and left after 3 nights, and booked a nearby hotel with AC for the remainder of our trip. If it had have been a cooler time of year (Jan?) perhaps this would not have been an issue. The neighborhood is pretty run down, and can be noisy. We were lucky with our downstairs neighbors who were quiet folks, but we could easily hear conversations from there downstairs porch when we were in our living room. If you happened to get folks either downstairs or in the nearby rentals that like to party (and you do not), it could be pretty miserable. You cannot beat the view and I enjoyed walking on the beach that was not crowded at all near the north end. Swimming was doable at the south end near the pier. Kitchen was very small with no ice maker or dishwasher, and older electric range. Safe was only usable for a fee that was a new on o me), so I never tried it. The listing description does not say there is an AC, but as far as I know, it does not say there is no AC. the humidity and lack of trade winds make that a big deal. 10/17/2019 at 5:47 AM

Great stay in Hanalei

"Absolutely loved this rental. Top floor of a two story beachfront house. No one was in the bottom half for our entire stay. The upper unit was a little more expensive, but the higher view was worth it. The huge, covered lanai with a dining table was where we ate all of our meals. We could hear the surf all through the house. Nice living area with views on three sides and TV that we never turned on. Fully stocked kitchen, two bedrooms and one bathroom. Ceiling fans and extra standing fans available as there is no a/c. Worried a little about staying in Hanalei during the rainy season, but it turned out great. Rained some everyday but there was plenty of sun for hiking and swimming. Probably would not have had the entire house to ourselves in the summer. There were some extra management and insurance fees that made it more expensive but that may be normal for the area. And the house was worth it. I would definitely stay again. 12/20/2019 at 6:30 AM
